Out of Tune

Rashmi Anand had always thought that if ever she wrote her autobiography, she would call it A SONG IN MY HEART.

After all, about 70% of her books are books are songs of joy and abundance.

But over time, she came to the conclusion that the notes of life (at least her life!) were more than a little OUT OF TUNE… hence the name of this book!

OUT OF TUNE is a peek into the completely crazy life and home of Rashmi Anand and her children.

It is the truth of the joys(!) of single parenting, empty coffers, growing old and losing your mind!

Rashmi promises that this book is the truth, and nothing but the truth… so help her God!

The whole truth has been completely censored by her daughter Sonakshi.

And completely denied by her son Yashveer!

Walk a few steps with Rashmi on the joyful (?) journey of her life, and you may relate to a few instances. You may even laugh. But most definitely, after reading about Rashmi’s life, you will go down on bended knee and thank God for your own!

Sonakshi and the Rat.

… alas I knew not the magnitude of problems that a 4 inch creature could bring into out 1800 square foot home!

The days crawled by, and the rat crawled about… all over the place!

It seemed to have a special affinity for Sonakshi. It would turn up under the sofa on which she sat, would nuzzle at her leg as she sat at the dining table, and even sat inside one of her sneakers one day. Sonakshi often drags her mattress into the drawing room to watch TV late at night. And it so transpired that the rat shared her taste in TV shows and would lovingly watch them with her.

But Sonakshi was in no mood to be the other half of this love story.

I changed occupations. From being a writer, I went on to become as escort to a paranoid mind. It was a nightmare. I had to walk Sonakshi from one room to the other in the house, lest the rat jump out at her! I realised at this time how huge our little flat was.

And as opposed to Ulysses who at least found his destination, Sonakshi’s Odyssey seemed endless. And as she walked from room to room, so did this bodyguard of a mother….
