I am different

Now I am not like all the others,

And I am not accepted all the while

Sometimes they point a finger at me

And hide behind a smile.

I do not look like most of them

Maybe I don’t speak like them at all,

I try with them to build bridges

But all they build is walls.

I may not know the things that they do

But I know things that no-one else can know,

But people often close their eyes to me

As on their path they go.

All of us cannot be the same,

This truth no-one seems to get,

Why do differences make people uncomfortable

Why can’t people just accept?

Well, they can go on doing whatever they do

They don’t know it’s all in vain,

They laugh at me because I’m different

I laugh because they are all the same!
